Lassen Cares reported the tenth community death from COVID-19 Friday evening.
As of the 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8 update, there are 260 active COVID-19 community cases, 1,333 recovered, nine are currently hospitalized and there have been 10 deaths reported: A total of 1,612 community cases — an increase of 18 new cases since the Thursday update.
At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 47 active cases, 1,884 recovered and two deaths at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 141 active cases and 1,041 recovered cases at CCC, and no active and 245 recovered at FCI Herlong.
Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Jan. 11 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 47 active staff cases, and 60 active staff cases at HDSP.
Locally, there have been 14,136 tests administered, with 12,133 returning negative and 391 pending.
For serology testing, which detects the presence of antibodies in the blood, 267 have been tested, 16 returned positive and 251 returned negative.
