As of the 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28 update, there are 125 active COVID-19 community cases, 1,746 recovered, 8 are currently hospitalized and there have been 14 deaths reported: A total of 1,893 community cases — an increase of 11 new cases since the Wednesday update.
Moreover, the local COVID-19 hub announced there has been 918 vaccines administered, not including doses from Banner Lassen Medical Center or CDCR.
At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 15 active cases, 1,957 recovered and two deaths at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 23 active cases and 1,199 recovered cases at CCC, and no active and 245 recovered at FCI Herlong.
Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Jan. 28 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 19 active staff cases, and 19 active staff cases at HDSP.
Two weeks ago, Health and Social Services Director Barbara Longo shared some of the age ranges of eight residents who have passed from COVID-19. In Lassen County, four of the local community deaths have been from residents 85 years and older; three have been between 75 and 84 years old; and one has been a resident between the ages of 55 and 64.
Locally, there have been 14,550 tests administered, with 12,657 returning negative and 0 pending.
