Following the extended holiday weekend, on Monday Lassen Cares reported an increase of 112 new community cases since the previous update Wednesday, Dec. 23.
As of the 5:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28 Lassen Cares update, there are 456 active COVID-19 community cases, 894 recovered, 14 are currently hospitalized and there have been seven deaths reported: A total of 1,371 community cases — an increase of 112 new community cases since the previous update released five days prior, Wednesday, Dec. 23.
At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 213 active cases, 1,677 recovered and one death at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 370 active cases and 696 recovered cases at CCC, and 9 active and 236 recovered at FCI Herlong.
Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Dec. 28 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 99 active staff cases, and 101 active staff cases at HDSP.
Locally, there have been 13,286 tests administered, with 11,661 returning negative and 254 pending.
For serology testing, which detects the presence of antibodies in the blood, 263 have been tested, 12 returned positive and 251 returned negative.
