Lassen Cares reports 2 new cases: 57 active, 1,916 recovered

As of the 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9 update, there are 57 active COVID-19 community cases, 1,916 recovered, two are currently hospitalized and there have been 17 deaths: A total of 1,992 community cases — an increase of 2 new cases since the Monday update.
There have been 1,124 vaccines administered, not including doses from Banner Lassen Medical Center or CDCR.

At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 16 active cases, 1,978 recovered and two deaths at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 27 active cases and 1,232 recovered cases at CCC, and no active and 245 recovered at FCI Herlong.

Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Feb. 9 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 13 active staff cases, and 18 active staff cases at HDSP.

A few weeks ago, Health and Social Services Director Barbara Longo shared some of the age ranges of eight residents who have passed from COVID-19. In Lassen County, four of the local community deaths have been from residents 85 years and older; three have been between 75 and 84 years old; and one has been a resident between the ages of 55 and 64.

Locally, there have been 14,875 tests administered, with 12,883 returning negative and 0 pending.
