As of the 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8 update, there are 68 active COVID-19 community cases, 1,904 recovered, one is currently hospitalized and the 17th death was reported: A total of 1,990 community cases — an increase of 22 new cases since the Thursday update.
There have been 1,124 vaccines administered, not including doses from Banner Lassen Medical Center or CDCR.
At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 21 active cases, 1,973 recovered and two deaths at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 38 active cases and 1,220 recovered cases at CCC, and no active and 245 recovered at FCI Herlong.
Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Feb. 8 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 20 active staff cases, and 25 active staff cases at HDSP.
A few weeks ago, Health and Social Services Director Barbara Longo shared some of the age ranges of eight residents who have passed from COVID-19. In Lassen County, four of the local community deaths have been from residents 85 years and older; three have been between 75 and 84 years old; and one has been a resident between the ages of 55 and 64.
Locally, there have been 14,871 tests administered, with 12,881 returning negative and 0 pending.
