Lassen Cares reports 27 new community cases: 312 active, 10 hospitalized

As of the 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5 update, there are 312 active COVID-19 community cases, 1,199 recovered, 10 are currently hospitalized and there have been nine deaths reported: A total of 1,530 community cases — an increase of 27 new cases since the Monday update.

At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 52 active cases, 1,873 recovered and two deaths at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 352 active cases and 820 recovered cases at CCC, and no active and 245 recovered at FCI Herlong.

Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Jan. 5 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 55 active staff cases, and 100 active staff cases at HDSP.

Locally, there have been 13,817 tests administered, with 12,032 returning negative and 255 pending.

For serology testing, which detects the presence of antibodies in the blood, 266 have been tested, 15 returned positive and 251 returned negative.
