Lassen Cares reports 31 new cases Wednesday: 241 active, 1,301 recovered

The number of current active cases is decreasing as 31 new cases were reported Wednesday night.
In a comment on its Tuesday Facebook post, Lassen Cares wrote, “As soon as we know when we can start giving the vaccine out to the public we will make an announcement.”
As of the 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6 update, there are 241 active COVID-19 community cases, 1,301 recovered, 10 are currently hospitalized and there have been nine deaths reported: A total of 1,561 community cases — an increase of 31 new cases since the Tuesday update.

At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 50 active cases, 1,881 recovered and two deaths at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 233 active cases and 940 recovered cases at CCC, and no active and 245 recovered at FCI Herlong.

Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Jan. 6 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 51 active staff cases, and 80 active staff cases at HDSP.

Locally, there have been 13,974 tests administered, with 12,082 returning negative and 331 pending.

For serology testing, which detects the presence of antibodies in the blood, 267 have been tested, 16 returned positive and 251 returned negative.
