Lassen Cares reports 36 new cases: 139 active, 1,709 recovered

As of the 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26 update, there are 139 active COVID-19 community cases, 1,709 recovered, 10 are currently hospitalized and there have been 14 deaths reported: A total of 1,872 community cases — an increase of 36 new cases since the Friday update.
Moreover, the local COVID-19 hub announced there has been 850 vaccines administered, not including doses from Banner Lassen Medical Center or CDCR.

At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 24 active cases, 1,945 recovered and two deaths at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 34 active cases and 1,187 recovered cases at CCC, and no active and 245 recovered at FCI Herlong.

Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Jan. 26 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 12 active staff cases, and 18 active staff cases at HDSP.

Two weeks ago, Health and Social Services Director Barbara Longo shared some of the age ranges of eight residents who have passed from COVID-19. In Lassen County, four of the local community deaths have been from residents 85 years and older; three have been between 75 and 84 years old; and one has been a resident between the ages of 55 and 64.

Locally, there have been 14,477 tests administered, with 12,521 returning negative and 84 pending.
