Lassen Cares reports 378 active COVID-19 community cases, 4 deaths

Lassen County COVID-19 cases continue to rise, and two additional deaths were reported Monday night, Dec. 7.

As of the 8:30 p.m. Monday Lassen Cares update, there are 378 active COVID-19 community cases, 305 recovered, four are currently hospitalized and there have been four deaths reported: A total of 691 community cases — an increase of 66 cases since the last update Friday. Lassen Cares noted two of the deaths were “temporary residents,” and the Lassen County COVID-19 Incident Command Public Information Officer Richard Egan clarified, in this case, temporary resident meant a nursing home resident.

At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 543 active cases, 752 recovered and one death at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 21 active cases and 650 recovered cases at CCC, and 143 active and 12 recovered at FCI Herlong.

Positive correctional institution staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases.

Locally, there have been 11,987 tests administered, with 10,916 returning negative and 380 pending.

For serology testing, which detects the presence of antibodies in the blood, 255 have been tested, six returned positive and 249 returned negative.
