As of the 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23 Lassen Cares update, there are 414 active COVID-19 community cases, 824 recovered, 14 are currently hospitalized and there have been seven deaths reported: A total of 1,259 community cases — an increase of 21 new community cases since the Tuesday update.
At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 373 active cases, 1,479 recovered and one death at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 128 active cases and 694 recovered cases at CCC, and 9 active and 237 recovered at FCI Herlong.
Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Dec. 22 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 102 active staff cases, and 74 active staff cases at HDSP.
Locally, there have been 13,120 tests administered, with 11,594 returning negative and 267 pending.
For serology testing, which detects the presence of antibodies in the blood, 262 have been tested, 11 returned positive and 251 returned negative.
