Local community cases continue to rise and a sixth death was reported Wednesday.
As of the 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16 Lassen Cares update, there are 485 active COVID-19 community cases, 546 recovered, 10 are currently hospitalized and there have been six deaths reported: A total of 1,047 community cases — an increase of 45 new community cases since the Tuesday update.
At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 647 active cases, 1,058 recovered and one death at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 32 active cases and 665 recovered cases at CCC, and 87 active and 148 recovered at FCI Herlong.
Positive correctional institution staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Dec. 15 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 90 active staff cases, and 96 active staff cases at HDSP.
Locally, there have been 12,664 tests administered, with 11,263 returning negative and 354 pending.
For serology testing, which detects the presence of antibodies in the blood, 260 have been tested, 10 returned positive and 250 returned negative.
