Lassen Cares reports nine community deaths, 331 active cases, 1,155 recovered

As of the 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4 update, there are 331 active COVID-19 community cases, 1,155 recovered, eight are currently hospitalized and there have been nine deaths reported: A total of 1,503 community cases — an increase of 49 new cases since the Thursday, Dec. 31 update.

At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 67 active cases, 1,857 recovered and two deaths at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 355 active cases and 816 recovered cases at CCC, and no active and 245 recovered at FCI Herlong.

Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Jan. 4 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 56 active staff cases, and 96 active staff cases at HDSP.

Locally, there have been 13,742 tests administered, with 11,977 returning negative and 262 pending.

For serology testing, which detects the presence of antibodies in the blood, 266 have been tested, 15 returned positive and 251 returned negative.
