Booths were set up outside the creative arts building, ensuring that students understood what the Cougar Cupboard was for and to show what kind of items could be donated to the cupboard. Photos by Ashley Arey
The Cougar Cupboard is stocked with canned foods, bread, cereal, soaps, shampoos and more. Students who go to the cupboard can request specific foods they would like and will be given a reusable bag that can be brought back to the cupboard in the future. Associate Dean of Student Success and Equity Karissa Morehouse said it is important students have access to resources like this. She said students should be focused on their studies, not on how they are going to get their next meal.
On Wednesday, Aug. 23 students and staff of Lassen Community College gathered in the creative arts building for the grand opening of the Cougar Cupboard. The Cougar Cupboard has food and toiletries available for students in need. Lassen Community College Board Member Lou Hamilton, left, and President and Superintendent Dr. Marlon Hall cut the ribbon during the grand opening.
