The Cougars Men’s Soccer Team got their fourth win (4-1) of the season on Tuesday night against host Mendocino College, shutting out the Eagles 4-0.
Lassen displayed a dominant performance in the first half with two goals brilliantly tucked away by Noah Villemeur (FR/Suresnes, France), assisted by Caik Silva (FR/Jacarei, Brazil) in the fourteenth minute and an unassisted goal from Mouncef Lahouara (FR/Malaga, Spain) in the nineteenth minute, giving the Cougars a two-goal advantage heading into the second half.
In the fifty-seventh minute of the second half Will Wray (FR/Worthing, England) scored a third goal assisted through a perfectly timed cross from Tomas Ulla (FR/Cordoba, Argentina) after beating two players on the right flank, granting Lassen a distinct three-goal lead.
The Cougars persisted by furthering their lead with a fourth goal from Silva assisted by Villemeur in the seventieth minute, thus solidifying their win and shutout victory.
“This performance highlighted the quality of our players and the potential success our season can have,” said Cougars Head Coach Alex Machin. “There is still a lot of work to be done, however I am pleased with the development of these young men and the hard work they put in each day.”
Through a collected team effort, Lassen men’s soccer was able to continue their winning streak and further pursue their goals toward playoffs and the success they wish to achieve.
The Cougars will open their conference season today, Sept. 17, on the road against College of the Redwoods at noon in Eureka.
