Lassen County, start your engines

As summer inches its way ever closer, the Diamond Mountain Speedway has released its schedule for races for the 2020 season. Races will be in the four usual classes of cars: IMCA modified, IMCA sport modified, stock car, and mini stocks.

There will be two test and tune days Saturday, March 28 and April, 4 for racers and crews to get their cars ready and a chance to try out the track.

The first race of the season will be Saturday, April 11, where they will be holding a kids Easter egg hunt during intermission. Races two and three will be back-to-back events, first Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25.

There will be two races in May. The first will be Saturday, May 9 and the second will follow on Saturday, May 23. June will see a single race on the night of Saturday, June 13. There will also be chances for kids to win a bike during the race.

Things heat up in July starting with another two-day event, first on Friday, July 3 and the following night on Independence Day, with the annual fireworks show to follow the races.

On the closing nights of the Lassen County Fair, Diamond Mountain Speedway will hold its fair races and demolition derby Sunday, July 19. The final race in July will take place on Saturday, July 25.

In August the track opens on Saturday, Aug. 8 with the stock car two-seater challenge. On Aug. 15 we’ll see the regular classes as well, opening it up to the Tri State pro stocks. The following weekend on Saturday, Aug. 22, the final points race of the season will be held before the big two-day money showdown races on Friday, Aug. 28 and Saturday, Aug. 29.

As summer approaches, there will be plenty to see and do at our local Diamond Mountain Speedway.
