Lassen Humane Society fundraiser called a success

The Lassen Humane Society held a fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Lassen Ale Works Boardroom, drawing a large crowd.

Susanville Grocery Outlet owners Aaron and Faith Seamans pose next to the wine aisle at their store on Main Street. The Grocery Outlet owners donate wine to community fundraisers held at the Boardroom, and they plan to help with one nonprofit benefit there each month.

Ada Darrow, called the fundraiser “excellent” and added, “We did more in donations than we did in sales. We did really, really well, and everybody was happy — The Boardroom because business has been a little bit slow because of the weather, and it really helped us out with the Humane Society. We really want to say thank you to everybody for coming.”

Lassen Ale Works provided the venue for the event, and the Susanville Grocery Outlet provided the wine.

“They were super helpful, and everything went well,” Darrow said. “It was a wonderful time. Almost everyone who came bought the wine and left us a donation.”

Aaron and Faith Seamans, the new owners of Susanville Grocery Outlet, said they plan to help a nonprofit organization with a wine tasting fundraiser every month as a way to show their support for the local community.
