Lassen National Forest issues North Complex Fire closure order
The Lassen National Forest is executing Forest Order 06-20-12 (North Complex Fire Closure Order) to protect public health and safety. This Order is effective from Oct. 1, 2020, through Nov. 30, 2020. The North Complex Fire continues to exhibit extreme fire behavior growing to over 304,000 acres causing evacuations in Butte and Plumas counties. Forecasts for the coming weeks predict unseasonably warm temperatures and fierce winds compounding the dangerous conditions presented by this fire.
The North Complex Fire Closure Area boundary begins at the Lassen and Plumas National Forest boundary intersection and the Pacific Crest Trail in Township 25 North and Range 6 East, Mount Diablo Meridian. The boundary continues northwesterly direction along the Pacific Crest Trail to its intersection with County Road 91513 (Humbug Summit). In the southwesterly direction along County Road 91513 to its intersection with County Road BU51262 (Skyway). The boundary line heads in the southwesterly direction along County Road BU51262o towards its intersection with the boundary line between Range 3 East and Range 4 East. The boundary continues south along the boundary line between Range 3 East and Range 4 East to its intersection with the Lassen and Plumas National Forest boundary. Finally, the boundary line continues following the Lassen and Plumas Forest boundary back to the starting point.
“The North Complex Fire Closure Order facilitates unimpeded ingress and egress for firefighting personnel and other emergency responders, as well as owners, lessees, and residents of land in the area,” said Deb Bumpus, forest supervisor, LNF. “This order limits public exposure to fire danger and impaired visibility and health impacts due to smoke.”
The following persons are exempt from this order:
- Any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by regulation or order), specifically exempting them from this order.
- Owners or lessees of land in the North Complex Fire Closure Area, to the extent necessary to access their land.
