Lassen National Forest to conduct prescribed burning; smoke may be visible

Some may be visible as the Lassen National Forests conducts prescribed pile burning, it announced.

The Lassen National Forest intends to conduct prescribed fire operations (pile burning) on The Hat Creek Ranger District and the Eagle Lake Ranger District to promote ecosystem health and reduce hazardous fuels and the potential for severe wildland fire.

During the week of Jan. 11 through Jan. 15, the public can expect to see smoke in the area of Coyote Reservoir on the Hat Creek Ranger District. On the Eagle Lake Ranger District, the public can expect to see smoke near the communities of Spalding and Stones Landing. The Humpback and Orca units are in the Whaleback Fire area and Salty, Shay, Logs burn units are North and South of Champs Flat – expect some smoke in the Eagle Lake area.
