Lassen Rural Bus introduces expanded on-demand transit service starting Nov. 1: LRB to leverage The Routing Company’s Pingo app to power on-demand transit
Lassen Rural Bus announced it will be expanding on-demand transit service starting Nov. 1, 2022. Service expansions include an extended Saturday service area and a new weekday service.
LRB riders can request on-demand rides with the Ride Pingo app, a leading mobile technology designed in the U.S. by The Routing Company, a global on-demand vehicle routing and management platform. LRB is the first agency in California to deploy TRC’s technology.
Starting Nov. 1 and leveraging the Ride Pingo app, LRB’s extended-area Saturday service and its new 7 to 8 p.m. weekday service will be powered by a new on-demand point-to-point service called LRB Direct, which will operate as a pilot through the end of 2022.
Starting Nov. 5 our on-demand service area — “LRB direct” — will also include Janesville, Standish, Litchfield, Leavitt Lake and Lake Forest on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Costs per trip will be still $3.50 and reduced $1.75 (for seniors 60 and over, people with disabilities and children under 18 (under 6 ride for free).
Furthermore, starting on Nov. 1 Lassen Rural Bus will extend its service within greater Susanville (including Richmond Rd area and Johsntonville) until 8 p.m., using the on-demand service starting at 7 p.m. Costs per trip will be still $3.50 and reduced $1.75. Riders can use the “Ride Pingo” app that is available in the apple store and in google play to book their trips.
“LRB direct” is a pilot project that will end at the end of December 2022.
The Ride Pingo app will also help connect passengers to existing fixed route networks, while strengthening existing fixed transit networks.
The recently launched pilot services the Susanville and Lassen County areas. The expanded service starting Nov. 1 will also include the communities of Janesville, Standish, Litchfield, Leavitt Lake and Lake Forest on Saturdays.
