Those wanting to serve on the Lassen Union High School District Board of Trustees have the opportunity to apply for a provisional appointment.
In early September, Trustee Skip Jones announced his resignation from the board.
“It is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation as a trustee on the Lassen Union High School Board of Trustees,” Jones wrote in his resignation to the board. “As a third generation graduate, and a parent of two fourth generation graduates, Lassen High will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Following his resignation, the board voted during its Sept. 28 meeting to call for a provisional appointment to fill the vacated seat.
To be considered for the provisional appointment, applicants must:
- Be a resident of the school district
- Complete a questionnaire, which may be obtained by contacting BJ Hubbard at Lassen Union High School District Office, at 1000 Main St. in Susanville or by calling (530) 251-1197. Complete questionnaires must be submitted to the Lassen Union High School District Office no later than 4 p.m. Oct. 22.
Applications from candidates meeting the above qualifications will be reviewed by the LUHSD Board of Trustees, and the board may fill the vacancy at the Oct. 27 meeting of the board.
Unless a petition calling for a special election, containing a sufficient number of signatures, is filed in the Lassen County Office of Education within 30 days following a provisional appointment, the appointment shall become effective.
The appointee shall be sworn in and seated at the Dec. 8 board meeting and shall hold office until the next regularly scheduled board member election, which will be in November 2022.
