“The park road crew have been working hard so that visitors will have increased recreational opportunities and access with the opening of the park highway from the northwest entrance to Devastated Area,” said acting superintendent Michael Klimek.

Visitors will be able to drive 10 miles between the northwest entrance of the park to the Devastated Area. Download the NPS App before visiting to learn more about the park. Then, select Lassen Volcanic NP Highway under Self-Guided Tours to listen to the audio files that correspond with numbered posts along the highway.

Work on opening campgrounds continues. The Manzanita Lake Campground is scheduled to open Friday, May 24. Reservations are required and can be made on Recreation.gov.

Snow clearing operations continue in the southwest section of the park. Follow progress in the south by checking the Road Clearing Operator Log. The Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center is now open 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
