Lassen County currently has seven active COVID-19 cases, 104 are recovered, one person is currently hospitalized for the virus and one person has died according to Lassencares, which provides local COVID-19 information, as of the Saturday, Oct. 10 update. The first COVID-19 related death in the county was announced Friday, Oct. 9.
“I’m very sad to announce that we’ve lost one of our community members to this illness. This news hits us hard,” said Helen May, Lead Nurse at Lassen County Public Health, in the Friday statement from public health. “This COVID-19 pandemic is a historic public health challenge. Our top priority continues to be protecting the health of our community.”
According to lassencares, there have been 636 inmate cases at correctional facilities in Lassen County. There are no active cases and 626 recovered cases at the California Correctional Center. There are no active cases and four recovered cases at High Desert State Prison. There are four active cases and two recovered case at the Federal Correctional Institution, Herlong.
There have been 9,109 total tested, with 8,730 negative tests and 266 pending tests.
