LCC athletic department serves free breakfast for vets

Update: Will Freedman, Lassen Community College’s Interim Director of Athletic Operations provided some more information on the Veterans Day Breakfast: “This will be the 11th time LCC Athletics has put on the veterans breakfast. It was started by our previous Athletic Director and CCCBCA hall of famer Glen Yonan who has always gone out of his way to show appreciation to those who serve. Being the new Athletic Director myself, keeping this tradition alive was an absolute no brainer. Not only is it a great opportunity for us to say thank you to all of those who served but it’s an opportunity for our student-athletes to meet true heroes. In Athletics we always preach sacrifice and being part of something bigger than ourselves — Veterans embody these concepts. So having all of our student athletes interact and shake hands with these special people will teach them far more than a coach ever could. The tradition continues as the entire Lassen Community College athletic department hosts annual Vets Breakfast again this year from 7:30 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Community Church of Susanville. The Veterans Day Breakfast honors all who served. All veterans and their families are welcome to attend and enjoy a free and full homestyle breakfast. For more information, call (530) 251-8820.”
