LCC men’s soccer finishes on top yet again

The Lassen College men’s soccer team played their final home conference game Tuesday, Nov. 7 against visiting team, the College of the Redwoods Corsairs.

Lassen entered the field with a four-win streak, and the men were more than determined to keep the spree going.

By the end of the game, Lassen had successfully won the match 3-1 and were able to keep their undefeated title.

The first goal of the game was made by a Corsair on a mission. Though the 1-0 Corsair score gave the visiting team the confidence boost they desperately sought for, the lead didn’t last long.

The first Cougar score was made by Lucca Lima with an assist by Carlos Cusatis.

Next to make a dent in the score was Glen O’Hanlon with a goal, again assisted by Cusatis.

The third and final Cougar goal was made by Lima with an assist from Adolf Bitegeko, thus bringing the score to 3-1, Lassen.

After taking down the Corsairs at home, the Lassen Cougars took to the road Friday, Nov. 10 for their final conference match against Feather River College. Results will be published in the Tuesday, Nov. 21 issue.

With an overall record of 10-6-3 and a conference record of 9-0-2 as of Thursday, Nov. 9, the Cougars continued to lead the Golden Valley Conference.

In second place for the Golden Valley Conference, as of Nov. 9, was Lake Tahoe with a season record of 8-2-2. Feather River was in third place with a 7-2-2 record.

With the Cougars playing at such a high caliber, it is practically a guarantee that the Lassen men’s team will continue their season well into playoffs.

The official schedule for the 2017 soccer playoffs has yet to be released.
