Lassen Family Services announces the ninth annual Walk A Mile event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at Memorial Park. The event will begin at the Memorial Park stage near the cannon. Participants will walk down Main Street and return to Memorial Park for a color powder toss.

According to a statement from LFS, “Following the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, the theme of this year’s event is ‘rights, access, equity for all victims.’ According to the Office for Victims of Crime, ‘The theme underscores the importance of helping crime survivors find their justice by — enforcing victims’ rights, expanding access to services and ensuring equity and inclusion for all.’”

“Our goal is to make this event larger than it has been by expanding booths to include not only resources in the community for victims of crime, but also food vendors and craft vendors to encourage more community participation,” LFS said in its statement. “We want all members of the community to have knowledge of resources that way when a friend or family member needs help, people can feel confident referring them to seek services.”

Participants may register at: walkamile2022.eventbrite.com.
