LFS reminds public October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Lassen Family Services invites the community to join in the effort.

According to a statement from LFS, “Domestic violence doesn’t just affect some people, it takes place across all age groups, genders, sexual orientations, economic, and cultural statuses. Approximately 1 in 3 women and 1 in 10 men 18 years of age or older experience domestic violence. Annually, domestic violence is responsible for over 1,500 deaths in the US.

“Last year, in Lassen County, Lassen Family Services, Inc. helped approximately 300 new domestic violence victims. Help us help more people by promoting awareness.”

How to get involved

LFS invites the public to help raise awareness in our community by wearing purple every Friday in October and by taking a picture and caption it with #lassen family services #dvawareness.
