LHS changes leadership, Pedrett reassigned

The Lassen Union High School board “has decided to move in a different direction,” according to Executive Assistant Alexandria Shelton, speaking for Superintendent Bill McCabe, regarding principal Robbin Pedrett who was “reassigned from her position.”

During an early morning 7 a.m. special meeting Monday, Dec. 4, the board made the decision to reassign Pedrett from her position, with McCabe acting as interim principal until the hiring committee selects and recommends a qualified candidate.

In a Tuesday, Dec. 5 public letter addressed to LHS students and parents on Facebook, McCabe and board president Kevin Jones announced the change in leadership.

“In an effort to promote a collaborative and transparent environment, we are writing this letter to inform you of a recent change in leadership. As of yesterday, Monday, Dec.4, 2017, the district will begin the process of recruiting and hiring for a new principal of Lassen High School,” the letter read.

“During this transition, we will work closely with the community to ensure minimal interruptions to daily routines, and we will continue to deliver quality education and services to our staff, students and community,” it continued.

The letter concluded thanking Pedrett for her many years of service and wished her luck in her future endeavors.

The hiring process will be discussed at the upcoming board of trustees meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12 in the board room, located at 1000 Main Street in Susanville.
