LHS field hockey teams finish season strong
The Lassen High School varsity and junior varsity field hockey teams ended the season strong Saturday, March 27.
During the Saturday match against Chico High School, the J.V. field hockey team snagged first place in league, finishing the season with a win in double overtime, 4-3, according to assistant coach Christy Rose. Goalie Megan Griffith had an outstanding game with eight saves. Scorers for Lassen were Cassandra Huskey, Jessica Nakanishi, Renee Delgado and Dani Ware.
Additionally, the varsity also finished the season strong by upsetting the undefeated Chico High School team in triple overtime.

In regulation, Cassandra Huskey had the only goal which sent the game into overtime at 1-1. The game was still tied at the end of the first tie breaking procedure; a 10 minute or sudden death 7 v 7 game.
The second tie-breaking procedure is a shoot out with each team choosing five players to go one at a time against the goalie from the 25 yard line. Each team scored 3 goals which resulted in a tied score of 4-4. The third tie breaker is a sudden victory shoot out.
After Chico’s first player was unable to score, Rylee Mays was Lassen’s first competitor and she clinched the win with an outstanding shot to the right side of the goalie. Lassen’s Goalie, Katelyn Kirack contributed to the win with 16 saves. It was a great way to end the season, Rose shared.
