LHS softball ends pre-league play with uphill battles
The Lassen High School varsity softball team eagerly showed a bold strategy regarding the pre-league games leading up to the end of March.
With the official league play beginning today, Tuesday, April 10, the Lady Grizzlies decided to wash their hands of any harsh luck by sacrificing the final three games of the pre-league season.
Lassen took on Atwater High School and Freedom High School on Friday, March 30 at the Reno Easter Tournament. Both games were losses for the Grizzlies with scores of 3-0 and 12-1, respectively.
The final game of the pre-league was played against Reed High School Saturday, March 31. The game against Reed resulted in a 3-0 loss for the Grizzlies.

During the game against Atwater, Lassen had a total of four hits, but no runs.
Atwater scored one run in the first inning, one in the second and one in the third.
Innings four and five were scoreless for both teams, and the game was called with a 3-0 score on the board prior to inning six beginning.
Lassen then took on the Freedom Falcons for a four-inning game that ended with the Falcons in the lead 12-1.
Freedom scored five runs during the bottom of the first inning, three in the second and four in the fourth.
Lassen made their one run during the top of the second inning.
Last on the list was Reed High School.
The Reed Raiders hosted Lassen for the pre-league game.
Both teams were initially scoreless for the first two innings, but Reed finally broke the 0-0 tie with one run in the third.
The Raiders followed with another run in the fourth and a third run in the fifth to effectively secure the win.
Throughout the six-inning game, Lassen had three hits and no runs.
With the bad luck vibes officially out of their systems, the Lady Grizzlies will be starting league play at home today against the Anderson Cubs for a doubleheader.
