James G. Forbes, a resident of Susanville, California, passed away Nov. 2, 2019 in Reno, Nevada at the age of 91. He was born Dec. 10, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to Carlisle and Edna Forbes. He had a true appreciation of the outdoors, enjoyed reading about forestry, Scotland, history and stock investments. In his early years he worked as a fire lookout and log scaler. He continued to work in the timber industry for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life member of the Clan Forbes Society.
He is survived by his brother Donn Forbes, wife Carol Forbes, son Andrew Forbes, daughter Kathleen Forbes-Draper and two grandchildren, Dillon Draper and Danna Draper-Griffith.
Jim was a WWII veteran and a Korean War veteran of the United States Army. There will be a graveside service with military honors at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 16, 2020 at the Northern California Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Igo, California.
