Johnny “Ralph” Fain, Jr.
Johnny “Ralph” Fain, Jr., 63, died unexpectedly, Aug. 10, 2021 in Susanville, California. He was born Dec. 30, 1957 in Bakersfield, California, the son of Johnny and Raynelle (McElrath) Fain.
Ralph attended Lassen High School, Class of 1975. Before graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Shannah Moore. They raised three beautiful children together, before parting ways. On July 1, 2006, Ralph married Michelle Beebe and added her four kids to his family. Following in the footsteps of his father, Ralph worked for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and retired in 2007 after 30 years of dedicated service.
Dad was a devoted father. His smile and sense of humor will be truly missed. He loved to read and was incredibly smart. He had an undeniable love of nature and a passion for photography. He had many outdoor hobbies such as rafting, hunting, fishing and baseball. He loved being with friends, family and grandkids at every opportunity. He also threw the most memorable parties.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Vince Fain.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Michelle Fain, are his brother Mike and his wife, Sheryl Fain of Burns, Oregon; his aunt Carol Herrin, of Tucson, Arizona; his son Jeremy Fain and his wife, Nicole, of Cottonwood, California; and granddaughters Ellie and Jaycee; his daughter Trish Garcilaso and her husband, Ian, of Cottonwood and grandson Kai; his youngest daughter Laura Fain of Eagle Point, Oregon; Michelle’s daughter, Nicole Parry and her husband, Jordan, of Redding, California, and grandson Connor; Michelle’s daughter, Heather Hemping and her husband, Craig, of Chester, California, and grandson Wyatt, granddaughter Claire and grandson Parker; Michelle’s daughter, Yvonne Schwabauer and her husband, Zack, of Susanville; and grandson Zane; and Michelle’s son, Don Winegarden and his girlfriend, Carly Brown, of Palo Cedro, California; and many loving cousins who will cherish memories of their beloved “Ralphy”.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the prayers, encouragement and acts of kindness shown during this difficult time. We will hold a celebration of life at a later date, TBA.
