Life Tribute – Lois Rae Murillo

Lois Rae Murillo, 92, lost her 2-year battle with cancer on Jan. 9, 2021. At the time of her death, Lois lived in Gardnerville with her daughter, but prior to her illness she was a lifetime resident of Susanville.

Lois was born in Susanville, April 28, 1928, attended school there from kindergarten through high school. She established friendships in elementary school that were important to her all her life. Lois retired at 65 from a job she loved as an office manager in a local dental office. Her retirement years were active. Lois enjoyed spending time with her girls and grandsons, cooking, baking, traveling, reading, gardening, designing, making and sending cards to family and friends for all holidays, and going to the gym. Most of all, Lois loved going to coffee after working out and telling stories to her friends about growing up in Susanville and the changes in the town over the past 9+ decades. Lois loved her family and was always happy and positive with a wonderful sense of humor—she will be missed.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Murillo-Attaway, and husband, Jerry Attaway, her daughter, Debra Murillo Schneckloth, and grandson, Eddie Schneckloth, and her daughter, Frankie McCabe, and grandsons, Ryan and Casey McCabe, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations be given to a charity of choice in Lois’s name. A celebration of life for Lois is tentatively planned for summer 2021, contingent upon pandemic restrictions — date and time will be announced via online and traditional formats.
