Life Tribute – Pete Braun Jason

Pete Braun Jason

Pete Braun Jason was born Oct. 12, 1945 and was the oldest son of Mike and Sue Jason and had three younger brothers: Frank, Bill and Don.

Pete always had a love for the outdoors and cowboy life and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting as well as doing ranch work and working cows.

In 1968, Pete enlisted in the military and proudly became a Seabee, serving two tours in Vietnam.

When he returned to the states, he began spending time at the Mallison Ranch and this is where he met the love of his life, Janis. Pete and Janis were married in 1971 and have three daughters: Laurie, Andra, and Jennifer.

Although he was humorous and mild mannered, he definitely had a serious side and when that came out, people listened. This combination made him an incredible leader and someone who influenced many lives in many ways.

Pete dedicated his life to law enforcement for 33 years, beginning his career with the Modesto Police Department and retiring in 2002 from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Department as a sergeant.

Pete contributed more than 34 years on different school boards in Lassen County, including the Shaffer School Board, Janesville School Board, School Attendance Review Board (SARB), Lassen High School Board and to present held a seat on the Lassen County Board of Education.

On Sept, 8, 2020, this amazing man peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family. Pete’s strength, memories and legacy will be carried on by his wife Janis, daughters Laurie Avey (Don), Andra Sill (fiancé Roger), Jennifer McCulley (Tom), six grandchildren, Nathan Sill, Emily Elliott, Megan Silva, Cody Avey, Cali Avey, Carlye Avey and ten great-grandchildren.

He was a cowboy at heart and loved the western way of life!
