Walter Dean Collier, Sr.          

Walter Dean Collier, Sr. was born October 26,1934 in Kansas. He passed away June 16,2020 in Chico California. He was 85.

Wally was born to Hizer and Ida Collier and the youngest child of two.

Wally lived in Pittsburg, Kansas until his early teens when the family moved to Westwood, California where he remained most of his life. He graduated from Westwood High School and joined the Navy in 1954 for a short stint. Upon his return to Westwood he married Marylse Glenn on April 14,1956. They raised two

sons, Walter “Dean” Collier Jr. and Steven Collier.

He worked at Fruit Growers Supply and ultimately Collins Pine in the plaining mill in Chester until he retired.

Wally was an avid bowler in the National Amateur Bowling Incorporated, competing in many tournaments in Reno and Las Vegas over the years.

He enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, hunting, golfing and seeing his granddaughters grow up. His yard in Westwood was his pride and joy over the years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and one son. He is survived by his wife Marylse; son Dean; granddaughters Kimberly Warren and Stephanie Collier and great-grandchildren Paisley, Brantley, Maverick and Blake.

There will be a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Westwood Cemetery with a reception following at the home of his son, Dean. The address is: 709-420 Jonas Road in Susanville.
