Marilyn Manker Allen
Marilyn Manker Allen passed away at the Lassen Nursing and Rehab Center in Susanville, California on Aug. 1, 2019 at the age of 92.
Marilyn Manker Allen was born in Upland, California, on Sept. 12, 1926. In 1944, she married Alvin (Bud) Allen and they had two girls, Margaret (Maggie) and Lynda (deceased). Bud passed away from the complications of diabetes in 1952. Marilyn married Kenny Croney and they lived in Morro Bay where she owned and operated a coffee shop/café. They eventually moved to Lewiston, California where they built a house and enjoyed salmon fishing. Kenny died in 1978. On May 9, 1981, Marilyn married Lester Allen and moved to Susanville.
Marilyn joined Lester Allen in operating Pine Crest Ranch. She was active in the community as a volunteer at Banner Lassen Medical Center and member of the Susanville United Methodist Church. Les and Marilyn enjoyed annual fishing and hunting trips with friends.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Margaret Sikes, of Salem, Oregon; and stepdaughters, Blake Huhtala and Kim Dieter, of Susanville.
She leaves grandchildren Regina Muhs, Rhoda Grim, Donald Hall, Damon Hall and Derric Hall; and many great-grandchildren.
The family thanks the Lassen Nursing and Rehab Center for their kind and compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Susanville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18.
