Live Drive-Through Nativity runs Dec. 19 and Dec. 20

Experience the true spirit of Christmas during a live drive-through Biblical account of the birth of Jesus Christ held in Susanville. This family-friendly, safe, outdoor Live Nativity will run from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 20 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 905 Richmond Road, across from Diamond View School.

Admission to the Live Drive-Through Nativity is free. This new event is open to the public. Look for the Roman soldiers at the entry to Bethlehem and be sure to tune in your radio station to the posted
channel as you arrive.

As you drive through Bethlehem, this event will feature scenes leading up to the birth of Jesus Christ. Experience Mary and Joseph traveling to the City of David to pay their taxes, the shepherds in the field keeping watch over their flocks by night and the glorious birth of Jesus Christ into the world. Children and adults will love the authentic experience of live sheep, donkeys, goats and even camels!

What makes the event special this year is that family groups were cast to play the roles together. Through the two nights two different newborn babies will make their acting debut as Baby Jesus, the central figure of the event and season. According to a statement from the church, “This live nativity presentation is our gift to the community during a time of so much change and uncertainty in the world. We hope this small event will bring the spirit of hope, peace and joy to all.

“We suggest bringing blankets, warm pajamas and hot cocoa as you enjoy this event from the comfort of your own vehicle.”
