A live fire training exercise is coming to Susanville this weekend, Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25 at the Walmart parking lot.
The training, according to Susanville Fire Department Assistant Chief Marc Murphy, is open to firefighters from other agencies and offers an opportunity for them to receive training in forcible entry, live fire training and ventilation prop.
“It’s going to basically teach you to go through the front door and different rooms of a structure,” Murphy said.
During the training, about 50 firefighters a day — about 100 for the whole training — will be able to get hands-on live fire experience.
The public can come to the parking lot to watch the training, and ask questions regarding volunteering and firefighting.
