During its Dec. 20 public hearing the Lassen Municipal Utility District Board of Directors approved a one-and-a-half cent increase to the District’s kilowatt hour charge. This is in addition to the half-cent increase approved at the Nov. 22 board meeting.
The first increase went into effect with the December billing. The second increase will go into effect with the January billing. The total rate increase — 2 cents — brings LMUD’s residential rate to 16 cents per kilowatt-hour.
Typically, LMUD’s average customer uses about 800 to 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month, however, with recent extreme cold, usage has been higher. If you are experiencing a higher-than-normal bill, contact LMUD’s customer service department that may be able to assist you with payment arrangements or financial aid, depending on your circumstances.
These rate increases apply to all rate classes. You can view LMUD’s rate schedules at www.lmud.org and click on the “Rates” tab at the top of the homepage.
