LMUD board considers rate adjustment

The Lassen Municipal Utility District Board of Directors will be asked to consider adjusting the current kilowatt hour charge at the Nov. 22, regular board meeting. The board meeting will be held at the LMUD business office located at 65 S. Roop St. at 5:30 p.m.

According to a statement from LMUD, Item 18 on the November agenda reads, Quarterly review of the district’s KWH charge as determined by the Power and Delivery Cost Analysis Worksheet (as of 9/30/22). Action Requested: Approve PDCA Worksheet (rate change to be recommended)

The PDCA allows for rates to increase by no more than one half cent, however, there is no limit to the amount rates may be decreased. The current PDCA indicates that LMUD is under collecting, and therefore the recommendation will be to adjust the current rate upward by a half cent per kilowatt hour.

LMUD’s average customer uses approximately 800 kilowatt hours per month. If the rate adjustment is approved, customers would see, on average, a $4.00 per month increase in their bill.

The board will also receive a 14401 report from the District’s General Manager to consider an adjustment to the district’s energy charge. The action requested is to set a date for the public hearing in which the rates will be reviewed. The hearing will be noticed to the public and the public will have an opportunity to comment during the hearing.

Public hearings are posted in accordance with state regulations. You can find notices on the district’s website, under the “News” tab at the top of the home page on lmud.org, and in the Intermountain News newspaper.
