LNF extends free personal firewood permits through Sept. 30

According to a statement from Lassen National Forest, as the impacts from COVID-19 continue to be felt across the country, the Forest remains committed to providing services on public lands and doing what it can to help those in need. As such, the Lassen National Forest will provide free personal use firewood permits through Sept. 30.

Effective April 30, personal woodcutters will be required to hold a free use permit and follow the associated regulations within that permit. Request your free personal use permit by completing and signing the mail-in form available at go.usa.gov/xu56b . Send your form to one of the offices listed below and they will mail your free firewood permit(s) and regulations.

These permits are only valid on Lassen National Forest lands open to firewood cutting. You can obtain permits for up to six cords of firewood for personal use. A cord is the amount of tightly piled wood in a stack four feet high by four feet wide by eight feet long. Because our employees have only limited access to our offices at this time, it may take up to one week to obtain a permit. Plan accordingly.
