The Susanville Elks Lodge No. 1486 has five local competitors moving on to the regional competition in February 2023.
The Elks Lodge holds its annual Hoop Shoot competition free of charge for area students. The competition started with the local event held at the Johnstonville Elementary School on Nov. 5, with boys and girls ages 8-13 competing. The Hoop Shoot contest requires players to shoot free throws, with the highest scorers advancing.
There were nine competitors at the local Elks Hoop Shoot competition. The winners from the event were — Madison Evans in the girls 8-9 division; Ryan Alkire in 8-9 boys division; Ryleigh Evans in the girls 10-11 division; Ruger Bomhardt in the boys 10-11 division; and Rudy Alkire in the boys 12-13 division.
According to a statement from the Elks, “Great job to all the contestants and congratulations to our winners. Good luck at the regional competition.”
