Local students show off recycled art

Under the coordination of first grade teacher Marcie Johnson, Johnstonville Elementary School hosted a Recycled Art Show from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8.

The event showcased arts and crafts that incorporated recyclable household items, to stress the importance of environmental conservation. Each class participated in creating a project for display. In addition to the class projects, students were encouraged to participate in an individual art and poetry contest.

The event had a great turn out. Families had an opportunity to work on collaborative projects, and explore with recyclables to create more fun pieces of art.
