Man injured in this morning’s Knoch Avenue shooting

The Susanville Police Department advises the community that a shooting near Pospect and Knoch avenues about 9 a.m. this morning, Friday, Sept. 1,  appears to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the general public.

According to a statement from the SPD, just before 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, officers responded to an alleyway near Prospect and Knoch avenues on a report of a gunshot victim in the alley.

When officers arrived on the scene, a better location was provided, and officers, with the assistance of the Susanville Fire Department and SEMSA paramedics, located a 23-year-old man/victim in a shed with a gunshot wound to his upper leg. The victim has been taken to an out-of-area hospital for treatment.

After subsequent interviews and statements from the victim, it appears this is an isolated incident, and there is no immediate threat to the general public.

Other witnesses still need to be contacted and interviewed. The case will be forwarded to the detective Richard Warner for follow-up.
