Mary Louise Douglass

Mary “Dollie” Louise Douglass passed peacefully surrounded by family Nov.7, 2021.

Born Maria Louisa Trujillo on May 29, 1940 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Steve and Patricia Trujillo, Dollie moved to Richmond California at the age of 7. She attended Richmond High School and graduated in 1958. She met her future husband Gerald “Jerry” Douglass at a pool hall on April 8, 1958. They married on Aug. 25, 1960 and started a family. Their family moved to Susanville California in 1971.

Dollie attended Lassen Community College, where she studied nursing and worked in the local nursing home as a CNA. Dollie was a volunteer coach and manager for her children’s softball, Bobby Sox and Little League teams throughout the years. She was also a 4-H assistant. Dollie was an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Lassen Lands Trails and Trust.

Dollie was a ray of sunshine to anyone she met, always bringing a smile to their face and laughter in their heart. She was a beautiful, loving wife, and a fun-loving mother with a wonderful sense of humor who always knew the right thing to say to her children, “I love you more!”

Dollie is survived by her loving family: husband Jerry Douglass; daughter Judith and son Jerry Jr.; five grandchildren, Bryan, Jessica, Dillon, Joshua and Nikolas; two great grandchildren, Shelbi and Hudsen; her brother Ray Trujillo and sister Sandra Savadra; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary and funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 20, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Susanville California with reception to follow at the church hall.
