The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body a man reported missing yesterday, Monday, July 22, at McCoy Flat Reservoir.
According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, Jeffery Wade Jennings, 50, of Susanville, was reported missing around noon Monday in the area of McCoy Flats Reservoir.
Jennings’ vehicle was located by the use of the onboard GPS system, OnStar, and deputies responded to the area. While they located the vehicle, they were initially unable to locate Jennings.
Additional sheriff’s office personnel responded with a rescue boat to conduct a search of the reservoir.
Once at McCoy Flat Reservoir, deputies were advised a body had been located by a group of kayakers. Personnel responded to the area to recover the body.
When deputies returned to McCoy Flat Reservoir Tuesday, July 23 to continue the investigation, they located a kayak they believe belonged to Jennings.
The investigation into Jennings’ death is ongoing.
“The men and women of the Lassen County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office would like to offer their condolences to the family and co-workers of Jeffrey Jennings,” read the statement.
