Foresters from Sierra Pacific Industries, conducting an archeological survey on SPI lands, located the remains of a missing Susanville man Wednesday, June 30. The remains were collected and sent to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and identification.
Deputies from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office responded to the “D Line” located approximately three miles north of Desmond Meadows on a report of human remains found in the area.
On July 12, 2021, the LCSO received confirmation the remains belonged to Matthew Tyler “Ash” Brown, 19, of Susanville.
Brown was previously reported missing to the Susanville Police Department on March 15, 2021. Brown’s next of kin was previously notified of the identification.
