Lassen News has been seeking information on the disappearance of Christen Danae Pelletier, 49, since a concerned friend and reader contacted us Feb. 6 asking us to report her as a missing person. That effort came to fruition today.

This afternoon, Susanville Police Captain Mike Bollinger responded to Lassen News’ questions and requests for more information following today’s statement from the Susanville Police Department regarding the missing person.

Bollinger told Lassen News the SPD made a traffic stop on a vehicle Pelletier was driving about 8 p.m. Oct. 20, 2022. Pelletier allegedly was driving on a suspended driver’s license and without insurance. SPD officers cited her for four or five violations and impounded the vehicle.

A few hours later, about 4:30 a.m. Oct. 21, Pelletier made a 911 call from Highway 139, but her phone disconnected before dispatch was able to determine her location. SPD officers patrolled Highway 139 as far as the city limits near the college but were unable to locate the caller.

Then about 8 a.m. that morning, a motorist called 911 to report a person walking along Highway 139. The California Highway Patrol responded and contacted her near the intersection of Highway 139 and Merriville Road about 9 a.m. At her request, the CHP gave her a ride to the intersection of Highway 139 and Hagata Road. Bollinger said the CHP identified her and knew about the 911 call she had made earlier that morning, but she didn’t appear to be in any danger or distress and asked them for a ride.

According to Bollinger, the SPD did not issue a missing person’s report to the media when she was reported missing in January because there was no evidence of foul play, and they believed she was missing voluntarily. He also said the investigation revealed she had numerous residences in Susanville, Westwood and Lassen County, including a report that she had been camping in her vehicle along Highway 139. They believed she was a transient.

According to the statement from the SPD, Pelletier, 49, was born March 18, 1973, and is 5′ 9″ inches tall, has a slender build and weighs 140 pounds. Her eyes are green and her hair is blonde and in dreadlocks. She was last seen along Highway 139 near the Willow Creek area. If you have any information on Pelletier, you are asked to call the SPD at (530) 257-5693.
