Mountain Bass Association hosts Susanville Auto Center Open
The Susanville Auto Center Open, presented by Mountain Bass Association, was held on Saturday, April 22 at Lake Almanor.
Seventy-six anglers and 38 boats from Northern California, Nevada, Idaho and Oregon converged on

Lake Almanor to search for a big limit of small mouth bass.
Stiff winds blew really hard out of the east for most of the day. This made for some less than ideal conditions and a difficult bite for several of the teams.
Once all the teams weighed in their best five fish limit, Mark Costello and Steve Costello topped the field with 18.57 pounds.
The following teams also finished high enough to claim a share of the purse: 2. Joe Leone and Trent Bauer, 18.38 pounds; 3. Larry Hemphill and Mike Sperbeck, 17.23 pounds; 4. Mark Manning and Jeff St. Clair. 17.23 pounds; 5. Dan Gardenier and Anthony Gardenier 16.10 pounds; 6. Danny Row and Allen Row, 15.92 pounds; 7. Dave Solari and William Lee, 15.55 pounds; 8. Mike Schuster and Robert Wharton, 15.45 pounds.
Joe Leone caught the biggest bass of the tournament weighing 4.44 pounds.
Mountain Bass Association is a club of local bass anglers mainly from the Susanville and Westwood areas. The club has been in existence since the late 1970s and is one of the most tenured bass clubs in all of California.
