A mountain lion that killed a family dog in front of its owners Friday, Aug. 4 was shot and killed
Saturday afternoon when it returned to possibly attack other family dogs on the property.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife biologist Brian Ehler confirmed the incident to Lassen News Monday afternoon.

He said wildlife officials began investigating after receiving a report the lion had taken a family dog about 7 p.m. Friday night. He said the lion returned Saturday afternoon and was shot and killed on the homeowner’s property.
