N-C-O Railway receives donation from Pacific Power Foundation

The Pacific Power Foundation has awarded N-C-O Railway, located in Alturas, California, a grant in the amount of $2,000 to assist in their mission to preserve the legacy of the Nevada California Oregon Railway.

Specifically, “this grant will support initial preservation upgrades for the archive. The funding will purchase a climate monitoring system for the newly acquired N-C-O employee cottage on Main Street in Alturas and aide in the development of a climate-controlled archive for historical documents and artifacts.” said Shane Starr, President of the N-C-O Railway.

“We are pleased to support the N-C-O Railway with this donation from our Foundation,” said Todd Andres, Pacific Power Regional Business Manager. “The Pacific Power Foundation is committed to strengthening the vitality of our communities through such grants.”

Today, the N-C-O society has established its headquarters at the original employee cottage located on Main Street.
